It only takes a moment to change your life

change your life in just one moment

"Our entire life changes in a moment"- Tony Robbins

Three years ago I worked with a life coach for the first time ever. Up until that point I didn't even know what a life coach was, let alone have the desire to work with one. When my dad recommended I hire a life coach I thought he was absolutely crazy crazy! Me? Need a life coach? Yeah right

His recommendation didn't come out of nowhere. It was born out of countless tear-filled calls I made to him freaking out about my life and not knowing what the heck I was doing with it. I didn't know what I wanted to do for a career (or at least I thought I didn't know), I was frustrated and stressed on a daily basis, I was struggling with my eating and some serious body image issues, and I felt really disconnected from myself. My dad, being the amazing man that he is, knew there had to be a better way for me so he found a coach he thought I should work with and sent me a link to her website.

I looked at it, thought about it, and then decided it was stupid. I remember saying to him, "I can figure this out on my own." I didn't want someone else's help, it just seemed unnecessary.

Cut to a month later. I was feeling even WORSE than before, because I didn't address all of the things that were dragging me down, my problems were getting bigger instead of smaller. Finally I was in enough discomfort to humble myself to the idea of receiving help. So, I looked at the website my dad had sent me again and reached out to my future coach to schedule a consultation.

I was SO nervous for our consult. My hands shaking while I waited for her to call. I didn't know why I was so scared! It wasn't like it was a job interview. What I didn't realize then, was that I was nervous because my whole life was about to change. Within about five minutes on the phone with her I remember feeling like a veil had been lifted from my eyes and all of the sudden I was seeing the world differently. I knew then that I HAD to work with her. I could feel how good things could become by doing this kind of work. So at the end of the call we talked about prices and packages and I figured out my money and signed up the very next day.

It was at the end of our first official session that my ENTIRE life changed. We had spent 45 minutes getting me deeper into what I wanted in my life and career but I still didn't know exactly what I wanted. I felt closer to the answer but didn't have clarity, until she asked me this questions: "What would you do if you could do anything with no limits on education or money" I answered almost instantly...

"I would do something around nutrition and wellness." Ding ding ding! It felt so good to say that. The reason I hadn't considered that as a viable option was because I thought that meant I had to become a registered dietician, which just didn't feel right to me. That's when I discovered what a Health Coach was and literally two days later I enrolled in IIN, the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. BOOM. Life changed.

My entire life changed the moment I answered that question. It was like the ceiling in my mind raised 1,000 feet and all of the sudden there was SO MUCH more possibility in my life.

I share this story with you for a few reasons.

  1. This is one reason that having a coach can be so incredibly valuable. We ALL have blind spots and sometimes it takes an outside source to help us see past our own perceived limitations.
  2. It literally takes just one moment for you entire life to change. Realizing something new, making a new choice, taking a new action, it all happens in just one moment and then everything is different. We have the tendency to put of change and believe it has to take a long time, but that's just not true.
  3. Sometimes the best choice feels scary. I was horrified to get on the call with my coach. Like really, really scared, but there was a tiny voice inside of me that told me to do it, so I did. When you know you need to do something but you feel afraid, just feel the fear and do it anyway. You'll be glad you did.

My experience with my coach was so life changing that it inspired me to become a coach as well. I love that I am able to work with women and help them see themselves and their lives with completely new perspective because I know from personal experience, how powerful that can be.

Next time you feel like you want something to change but you're daunted by the amount of time it might take to do so, remember, your entire life can change in the matter of a moment. Make a new choice, take a new action, find a new perspective, and everything will be different.

Love,

Natalie
