What is a Lifestyle Coach?
In this post I am breaking down the specifics of what I do as a Lifestyle coach. I will tell you who I work with, what I do, and how I work. Keep reading!
Who do I work with?
People who are seeking to find balance in their lives and feel better in their bodies.
I've worked with a wide range of clients from people I've known for many years to complete strangers that found me online. I've worked with women that were older than me, younger than me, and my same age.
The only thing I require is that you want to make the change more than I want you to make the change. If you're hungry for change, and we're a good fit, we can work together. On a side note, if we aren't a great fit or you're looking for a different type of coach, I am always so happy to refer you to other coaches that I absolutely love. So I've always got your back!
What do I do?
I help you pinpoint the things that are holding you back.
First thing's first, we need to find out the things that are stopping you from feeling your best. I like to think of it this way: in order to get to where you want to go, you first need to know where you are. Directions on a map won't get you anywhere if you don't have a point of reference to know where you are. By locating exactly where you are and what's going on, we empower you with the awareness to begin your journey to change immediately.
A lot of times this can be a challenging part of the process for my clients because we often want to avoid harsh realities. We're so used to covering things up and sweeping them under the rug that it can be uncomfortable to start to look at everything closely. But the key to this is to completely drop judgement and look at everything for what it is. Information. It's all just valuable information that will help you get to where you want to go.
I help you shift the mindsets and mental patterns that are keeping you stuck.
A big part of the work that I do is based in mindset. I would say the work I do with clients is 50% mindset and 50% practical tools.
A lot of clients come to me believing that they just aren't "meant" to be the way that they want to be. Whether it be about their bodies, relationships with food, or just feeling balanced overall. My job is to help you transition out of those mindsets and beliefs and start reprograming your mind in a way that is supportive and makes accomplishing your goals that much more possible.
I hold you accountable.
How many times have you vowed to yourself that you were going to make a change only to find yourself acting in opposition to that vow just a few days (or hours) later?
It's normal to struggle with sticking to new habits because creating change is inherently uncomfortable. If it were easy, we would all be 100% perfect to our own standards all of the time. In the beginning of making big and even small changes, it's really important to have someone there to hold you accountable to following through with your actions. A lot of times this can be the real game changer for people that have struggled with sticking to their goals. I hold my clients accountable simply by showing up and talking to them on a weekly basis. I don't get angry when they've "slipped up", but I allow them the opportunity to express it, understand why they've done it, and make new choices from there.
I help you create new habits.
Habituating healthy behaviors is the key to success in having a balanced lifestyle. Just like you might have the habit of waking up and immediately staring at your phone, you can have the habit to wake up and immediately take cleansing breaths followed by drinking a glass of water. It's one thing to try doing healthy or positive things here and there and it's a completely different thing to actually do them on a consistent basis. Consistency is key, and I help you create consistency in all of the healthy habits that work for you and help bring you closer to where you want to be. So that by the time we are done working together, you already feel like it's second nature to make the healthy choice.
I give you unbiased perspective.
It's really easy to convince yourself of anything, especially when it comes to rationalizing why you should "be bad". And that's where I come in. I'm there to give you clean and unbiased perspective on a regular basis. Friends and family are amazing but sometimes they are afraid to offend you, or they know you too well to be able to see what you're doing, or they're too wrapped up in their own lives to take the time to really give you the feedback that you need. Sometimes that feedback is the thing that helps you go from good to great.
I teach you how to eat for your specific body and your specific needs.
You could spend a lifetime googling different diets and trying them out. Really, the amount of information out there is so incredibly vast, it could keep a person busy pretty much forever . The point of working with me is to cut through all of the fluff and get to the core of what works for you. Some of my clients are vegan, some are paleo, some eat extremely varied diets and don't subscribe to any labels. The point is to learn what works for YOU and to stop falling for all of the fads and trends out there that promise you fast results. We all have different bodies, therefore we all have slightly different dietary needs. I help you understand what your specific dietary needs are in order to help you eat optimally for your body. The same applies for exercise and daily practices like meditation and journaling.

I'm your own personal cheerleader! This might sound cheesy, but consider this: we often aren't given the chance to truly celebrate our successes. In fact most of the time people only want to talk to you when you're complaining about something with them. Having the space to celebrate your success creates room for even more success. I'm right there with you throughout your entire journey, therefore I'm genuinely excited to hear about what's going well for you and where you're finding success. Having someone cheer you on is often a key ingredient in creating positive, lasting change.
I equip you with the tools to do it on your own.
I make sure that you're ready to go off on your own and continue your journey successfully. By the time we've completed our work together you've acquired the tools necessary to continue to find success for yourself. I never want to make my clients depend on me, I want them to know that they are totally capable of doing it on their own once they've reached a certain point. I leave you feeling ready to go out into the world and continue to feel amazing. And if you ever need more guidance or support, I'm always only an email, phone call, or text away.
How do I work with clients?
We're getting down to the nitty gritty here, but my goal is to make this all crystal clear.
I work with clients one on one either via phone or Skype. I have two different length programs, and in each program we meet three times a month for 50 minutes to an hour. Through our time together I also offer unlimited email support, so if you're ever lost or needing some quick help I'm always only a click away.
How can we work together?
Before I work with anyone it's important for us to have a conversation about what your goals are and why you're stuck in order to find out if I'm the right coach for you. This consultation is a really fun and easy way for us to get to know each other, and it leaves us both with a better understanding of what our partnership will look like. You will also walk away with some actionable steps to start making change happen for yourself immediately. And like I mentioned earlier, if I feel that you might need a coach with a different area of expertise I will always do my best to point you in the right direction.
