Kale and Almond Butter Smoothie
I woke up this morning wanting a light and refreshing breakfast so I created this kale and almond butter smoothie.
I kind of winged it with the ingredients, but it actually turned out amazing and it gave me an awesome boost of energy to boot.
What you'll need:
1 cup chopped kale
1 coconut, meat and water (you can use almond milk instead!)
1 tablespoon of almond butter
1 frozen banana
1 tablespoon of cacao nibs
1 teaspoon of extra virgin coconut oil
You can always play around with the ingredients of a smoothie depending on taste or what you have on hand, but this particular combination really turned out great.
One thing that's really important is making sure your banana is frozen. Using a room temp banana will leave your smoothie feeling watery. So make sure you use a frozen one!
Adding the coconut oil is also key because it helps your body digest the smoothie more slowly so your blood sugar doesn't spike, and it will also help satiate you so you'll stay fuller longer.
The most important thing when making a smoothie is that you enjoy it. So remember to have fun with it!
