Cantaloupe Love

Who needs refined sugar when nature offers us something as sweet as a cantaloupe? I love how satisfied I feel when I eat cantaloupe; and believe me, I have quite a sweet tooth. My health is always a work in progress, and something that I am working on lately is letting go of refined sugar. At first it seemed easy to me- of course I can drop sugar! But there are a lot of sneaky ways that refined sugar can sneak into your daily life. For one, eating out can be a lot trickier; even salad dressing has the sweet stuff in it a lot of times! While I am not being extremely strict on myself, I have been letting go of some of my sugary habits. Which leads me to... drum roll... FRUIT! I have always loved and appreciated fruit but the less sugar you consume on a regular basis the sweeter nature's natural candy becomes. And it's awesome! So naturally when I was eating and thoroughly enjoying my cantaloupe today I thought it would be great to share some of it's health benefits with you guys. It's pretty exciting that something so sweet can contain so many wonderful things; it definitely puts a smile on my face.

Health Benefits of Cantaloupe

High in vitamin C! Vitamin C is an antioxidant which means that it helps fight free radicals in your body; this means less chance of disease and signs of aging. It also helps strengthen your immune system by stimulating your white blood cells.

Natural stress reducer! Because cantaloupe is rich in potassium, it can help normalize your heart rate and promote oxygen supply to the brain. This is sure to mellow you out even when you are feeling extra agitated. 

Beta-carotine and vitamin A! Cantaloupes are filled with beta-carotine which becomes vitamin A in the body. Vitamin A promotes healthy and clear skin! There are also some studies that show that beta-carotine may even prevent skin from damaging UV rays.
