Afternoon Pick Me Up
I don’t know about you, but when the clock strikes 3 (or so) I find myself feeling a bit tired and hungry for a snack. While it’s easy to run to the store and grab a pre-packaged, chemical laden pick me up, that isn’t always the option that will leave you feeling your best. Don’t get me wrong, I have my fair share of food on-the-go regrets but that doesn’t mean I don’t keep trying! Smoothies are a delicious and relatively convenient afternoon snack! If you are not home or near a good place to buy one, you can make a smoothie in the morning and bring it with you in an insulated bag. I am going to share the smoothie I whipped up this afternoon with you. It was delicious and kept me full for hours!
Kale- 2 Stalks
Blueberries- 1/2 cup
Almond Milk- 1 cup
Raw Almond Butter- 1 1/2 tbsp
Chia and Flax Seed (finely ground)- 1tsp
I like to use frozen blueberries in smoothies, they are less expensive and replace ice! If you are out of almond milk, filtered water or coconut water work well too. Smoothie combinations are endless, have fun playing around with different combinations!
